National Database of Urological Malignancies

The Urological Society of India has initiated a project to maintain an online database of selected malignancies, populated by data from multiple centres around the country. The project has been designed, maintained and funded by the USI.

To begin, 5 centres have been identified as nodal centres for one malignancy each as below.

  • AIIMS, New Delhi: Prostate cancer
  • TMH, Mumbai: Bladder cancer
  • SGPGI, Lucknow: Kidney cancer
  • CMC, Vellore: Penile cancer
  • PGI, Chandigarh: Testicular cancer

Each centre has one designated nodal coordinator (NC) for that disease. The coordinating committee for the entire project consist of a database coordinator (DBC), NCs from each centre, and President-USI. The 5 NCs have submitted the proposal for approval to their respective institutional ethics committee and as on date, approvals have been received from AIIMS, New Delhi and PGI, Chandigarh. In order to safeguard the interest of the participants, SOPs have been developed and will be reviewed time to time.

Urological Society of India

The USI invites its members to contribute to this nation-wide project for collection of data on urological malignancies.

SOPs:

1. Any urologist/institution around the country that wishes to participate will be assigned a centre ID (User) and password for logging into the database and feeding their data

2. Users will be responsible for the validity of the data they contribute. They will sign a declaration to this effect while applying for membership and will be subject to random or regular check of their records at the discretion of the committee.

3. Each centre will have access to the data that they have contributed (across all diseases). The website will allow them to download their part of the data anytime in an EXCEL file. Data once fed cannot be deleted or modified.

4. For modification of existing data, Users will have to contact the NC for that disease.

5. The NC will have access to all data for their disease and will be able to edit data based on request from other users.

6. Authorship of primary paper:

7. Apart from the primary paper, contributors to the database may request data for additional papers. These requests and authorship will be decided by the coordinating committee.
